Industrial Court

The Industrial Court, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Labour and Home Affairs, is a specialised court with the same status as the High Court of Botswana. Its purpose is to settle trade disputes, and secure and maintain good industrial relations in Botswana.

Pre-existing situation & UTCFS’s role

The Industrial Court is situated in a new government building used both by government officials and members of the general public. Clearly, strict access control to certain areas of the building needed to be implemented. In order to guarantee a basic level of security for visitors to the new law courts, a second requirement was the installation of an intrusion detection system. The most important requirements of the brief were reliability and a user friendly interface. AR Edwards & Associates Consulting Engineers, aware of UTCFS’s knowledge and experience, asked the company to present a total security solution for the court.

UTCFS’s solution

Since the Industrial Court’s site required both access control and intrusion detection, UTCFS proposed its ATS Master system.
