Al-Futtaim Group

Established in the 1930’s, the Al-Futtaim Group initially operated as a trading enterprise. Dubai Festival City

The latest, most innovative development undertaken by Al-Futtaim is Dubai Festival City – a city within a city that covers 1,600 acres and stretches along four kilometres of the Dubai Creek shoreline. It offers a rich and vibrant living experience that encompasses fine shopping, dining, entertainment, homes, schools, hotels, offices and leisure all in one convenient location. Dubai Festival City is easily accessible, situated only two kilometres from Dubai International Airport, and in easy access of the 13 lane Business Bay Crossing, the Garhoud Bridge and the airport tunnel. Dubai Festival City offers a unique waterfront setting and delivers vibrancy to Dubai’s landscape.

Pre-existing situation & UTCFS’s role

As Dubai Festival City is a widespread, high profile development, the entire domain is monitored by 1,100 video surveillance cameras in total. Singapore Technologies, the local installer, faced the challenge of enabling the transmission of a massive volume of video images from these cameras, Singapore Technologies turned to UTCFS for a solution.

UTCFS’s solution

The solution was found in UTCFS’s fibre product range. Fibre has a high bandwidth and low loss quality making it an ideal way of transmitting high quantities of data over great distances, with the assurance of high quality full-frame real-time video transmission. As required, this transmission enables the delivery of all video images captured by the 1,100 camera system to the central control room by means of eight-channel video multiplexers to minimise the number of required fibres. Consequently UTCFS successfully met the needs of the Dubai Festival City with its fibre solution.
